Gosh, the last day of the old year….and it’s horribly windy tonight. Really bad. The house even moans sometimes. Scary. We had planned to have takeout Chinese, but all the Chinese restaurants are closed tonight! Big mistake, as we always have Chinese on the last day of the year. So husband has gone out to get natural and organic takeout. Tomorrow morning I’ll grocery shop for the New Year Day gathering I’m having right here.
People have been emailing us, calling us, and stopping by to wish us Happy New Year all day today. It’s nice that we have so many friends thinking of us. Last Saturday my brother-in-law and his wife stopped by for lunch. It was nice seeing them. Yesterday we went to the Rose Bowl area to see the floats being covered with flowers. While there, we were lucky enough to meet a woman from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She gave me lots of information for the 2008 Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, which I will attend next October.
I spent today giving my older daughter opinions on what law schools she should apply for. I also had to spend the afternoon figuring out why younger daughter’s new MP3 player wouldn’t work, and finally realized it was a firewall problem. Now it works beautifully. Somebody also stopped by to drop off her crockpot because of the get-together tomorrow. She’ll make hot spiced apple cider for our group meeting.
Next Saturday hubby and I are going to two parties to celebrate the new year.
I will be glad to see 2007 end. I believe I speak for the majority when I say it hasn’t been a very good year.
My goals for the new year: Write more in this blog, and send more articles out to paying markets. Lose a little weight. Work more around the house, and most importantly, spend time with my husband and two lovely daughters. I was hoping to attend the Southern California Writers Conference 2008 in Irvine, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I will go to the one at Cuesta College though. Finally, I have to send in my article for the website NEXT WEEK. So many things have happened to delay this, and I am determined to get it done!
Happy New Year, everyone!
